Products with this mark come from sustainable managed forests, established with the respect of the rules by the Forest
Stewardship Council.

The term 'ecologically sustainable' intends that the
cutting of trees is done in a way in order to guarantee the forests
from which the trees come will continue to always generate the same
quantity and quality of plants, while also avoiding any kind of negative
impact on biodiversity, on endangered species, and on the quality of
the air and water.
Besides this, in order to utilise the forests in a rational and technically
advanced manner, they use the necessary recycling and reforesting techniques,
taking into consideration that trees have a life cycle in which they
are born, grow, produce fruit, grow old, and die.
An example of this commitment to the preservation of forest integrity
is endowed by the United States in which, thanks to decades of ecologically
sustainable utilisation of the forests, the yearly growth of replanted
trees is greater than those harvested, dating back to 1952. In fact,
the forests have grown 28% notwithstanding the fact that the need for
timber products has become greater.
